Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 Red Dot Sight Riflescope, 1 x 25mm (tilted front lens)
“The Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 Red Dot Sight Riflescope, 1 x 25mm is a bargain priced red dot sight that will not break the bank and will provide years of service as a tactical optic.”
The Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 Red Dot Sight Riflescope, 1 x 25mm (tilted front lens) is a red dot sight that uses a refracted LED against a tilted lens to create the red dot reticle. This scope may not feel as rugged as an Aimpoint or EO Tech, but unless you are a SWAT officer, Navy SEAL or Recon Marine, it will serve you well on the range, in the field or even in a home defense situation. The one piece mount is strong and consistent enough to retain zero when removed for storage purposes or to place on another firearm.
Build Quality:
The TRS-25 has a very solid feel in the hand and weighs 3.7 ounces. The LED is glued to the inside of the tube and does not give a perfect 360 degree field of view.
It can be had in a matte black coating that matches the finish on most tactical firearms or in Real tree camouflage for hunting purposes.
Reticle – Red dot
Bushnell’s red dot is generated by using a tilted lens within the body of the scope to make for a sturdy reflex type sight.
It has 11 illumination settings, but the brightest of these can be too intense in most settings. The size of the dot is listed as 3 MOA by the manufacturer.
Glass Quality
The glass used in the TRS-25 is consistent with the quality of lenses that Bushnell uses in most of its optics. They are multi-coated with a proprietary Amber Bright coating to protect the lenses and reduce glare.
Magnification
The Bushnell TRS-25 offers no magnification, but offers unlimited eye relief. This is a fixed power red dot made for quick target acquisition.
Pros
- The best part of this scope is the price. It is inexpensive enough that you will not worry too much if it is damaged or even broken.
- The scope quickly and easily mounts to rifles, carbines, shotguns and handguns that are crowned with a Picatinny rail.
- The 2.4” overall length keeps it compact enough for use on just about anything, including a handgun.
- It worked extremely well on several firearms against a target with 2” spinners.
- Looks great
Cons
- The only real issue I took with the TRS-25 was the tilted lens restricting the field of view. This is the only reason why I would not put it in the class of the more expensive EO Techs and Aimpoint scopes. Losing the crispness of the dot on settings above 7 was a minor annoyance, but for the price, it is something you can live with.
Last Thoughts
Do not expect the quality of a $500-$700 scope in a sub $200 package.
